BOISE, Idaho, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Morrison Knudsen Corp. (MK) (NYSE: MRN) announced today that MK has won a contract to provide the Salt River Project (SRP) with construction-management support services for installation of three flue-gas desulfurization systems at the Navajo Generating Station, located on the Navajo Indian Reservation in northern Arizona.
The contract was awarded by SRP and will involve work on three 750-megawatt, coal-fired electric generating units. It will be one of the largest scrubber projects in the country.
"This contract award continues MK's strong commitment to serving utilities in the United States and helping them meet the requirements of the Clean Air Act," said William J. MK's Cleveland-based Power Division will provide support for the project. The division has installed flue-gas cleaning systems at several other plants in the United States and presently is at work on an engineer/procure/construct installation project for a Canadian utility.
