MK PURCHASES MANUFACTURER OF LOCOMOTIVE TURBOCHARGERS

BOISE, Idaho, Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Morrison Knudsen Corp. (MK) (NYSE: MRN) announced today that it has acquired Arrowsmith Power Systems Inc., of Simi Valley, Calif., one of the leading manufacturers of turbochargers for railroad locomotives.
"This acquisition enhances our ability to serve the world's railroads with high-quality products," said William J. Agee, MK's chairman and chief executive officer. "Arrowsmith has been manufacturing turbochargers for almost 20 years and has an outstanding reputation for quality in the railroad industry."
Agee noted that Arrowsmith, acquired by MK from KDT Industries Inc., an Austin, Texas-based holding company, is the second turbocharger manufacturer that MK has recently purchased.
Last December, the company acquired TMS Inc., of Latham, N.Y. Agee said that ownership of Arrowsmith and TMS places MK in a very strong competitive position in the turbocharger market.
"We are pleased that MK has shown this commitment to provide our customers with the same level of quality service they have come to expect from Arrowsmith," said Clifton Lind, Arrowsmith's president.
Arrowsmith's 65 employees produce approximately 550 turbochargers per year, serving Class I railroads and other customers.
Morrison Knudsen Corp. serves the world construction, transportation, environmental, industrial and power markets as an engineer, contractor and manufacturer, offering complete development, operations and financial services.
