MK NAMES CHIEF JAMES J. CARVINO AS VICE PRESIDENT OF SECURITY

BOISE, Idaho, July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Boise Police Chief James J. Carvino has been named as vice president of security for Morrison Knudsen Corp. (MK)(NYSE: MRN), the company announced today.
"Jim Carvino brings almost 40 years of solid law enforcement experience to the MK team, including the last four years as the chief of police here in Boise," William J. Agee, MK chairman and chief executive officer, said. "There has been widespread speculation for months that Jim would be leaving Boise for a similar position in the East. I am pleased that he has decided to remain here and to join the MK family."
Carvino, 58, became the Boise police chief in 1989, after serving as the deputy director, Office of Liaison Services, US Department of Justice.
Prior to joining the US Department of Justice, Carvino was the chief of police for the United States Capitol Police, Washington, D.C. He was charged with the management of a 1,300-member police force and was responsible for the protection of the members of Congress and their families as well as the Capitol building and other federal structures.
He also was the Racine, Wis. chief of police for eight years, and served in the New York Police Department for 20 years, attaining the rank of captain.
Carvino is the president of the Police Executive Research Forum, a member of the legislative committee for the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and a member of the Police Policy Board for the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
He received his bachelor's degree in business administration and his master's degree in public administration from City University of New York.
"The well being of our employees is a matter of paramount importance, especially as MK continues its global expansion," Agee said. "Jim Carvino's knowledge and hands-on experience will help ensure the security of our employees and MK assets around the world."
Agee noted that Morrison Knudsen now has projects in 20 nations, and that number is expected to grow in the coming years.
