 MK AND ASSOCIATES SELECTED FOR $1.2-BILLION AIRPORT
 SITE-PREPARATION PROJECT IN HONG KONG
 BOISE, Idaho, Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- William J. Agee, chairman and chief executive officer of Morrison Knudsen Corp. (MK) (NYSE: MRN), today announced that MK is part of an international joint venture that has been selected for a $1.2-billion project to prepare an offshore site for a new airport in Hong Kong.
 Announcement of selection was made by the Provisional Airport Authority of Hong Kong which will award the contract for the project when funding is finalized.
 MK is part of a joint venture that includes Nishimatsu Construction Co. Ltd. of Japan (sponsor); Costain Engineering and Construction of Great Britain; China Harbour Engineering Co. of Beijing; Ballast Nedam of The Netherlands; and Jan De Nul of Belgium.
 "This contract is an integral part of our international strategy to expand operations throughout the Pacific Rim and Asia," Agee said. "It further enhances our position as the number one engineering and construction company in the transportation market."
 Agee added that MK's share of the contract will be approximately $148 million. MK, Costain and Nishimatsu will perform the civil work on the project, and Ballast Nedam and Jan De Nul will execute the marine work. China Harbour will take part in both marine and civil work.
 The work involves preparing a 2,965-acre site encompassing Chek Lap Kok Island east of central Hong Kong for the new airport. This includes dredging and disposal off site of some 90 million cubic yards of sea- floor material; dredging approximately 90 million cubic yards of sand for fill material; and removal of some 126 million cubic yards of rock and common material from Chek Lap Kok Island and other islands for fill. In addition, the joint venture will construct an eight-mile-long sea wall around the site.
 The work is expected to start soon after the contract is awarded and take 41 months to complete.
