 MITCHELL LEAVES ROCHESTER TEL
 ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- David C. Mitchell,


executive vice president and president-telephone group has elected to leave Rochester Telephone Corporation (NYSE: RTC) and resign as an officer and director.
 Mitchell has served as executive vice president since 1988 and has been president-telephone group since 1990. He was elected to Rochester Tel's board of directors in April 1989.
 Mitchell joined the company in 1963 in the Accounting group. During his career, he served as director of customer service, controller, vice president-operations and vice president-finance and chief financial officer, a post he assumed in 1983.
 "Dave Mitchell was instrumental in the growth and shaping of Rochester Tel as we know it today, especially the telephone acquisition program," commented Ronald L. Bittner, president and CEO. "His influence will favorably impact the organization and its results for many years to come."
 With Mitchell's resignation, Jerry Carr, vice president-telephone subsidiary operations, and Lou Massaro, vice president-Rochester operations, will report directly to Bittner.
 Mitchell and his wife, Jean, will continue to live in Pittsford, N.Y., as he embarks on new career opportunities.
