MIRROR M@ILBOX: A PRIVATE BATTLE.
Byline: Jan Hannah
THE article by 'state educated father-of-two' Mark Brown - Why these parents got it wrong (Daily Mirror, September 2) - was opinionated and judgmental.
What gives him the right to suggest Stuart and Diane McKay are depriving their children of social skills by teaching them at home?
More, importantly, his opinion of private schools is embarrassingly naive. I am a single parent, work part-time and have no savings. One of my sons, aged 15, is dyslexic and was becoming a child at risk while in state education.
I removed him, and, through trust funds and bursaries I managed to send him to a private school where the class numbers are between 5 and 10.
I don't know what political drum Mark Brown was trying top beat but it was entirely wrong.
Jan Hannah. A privately educated, hard-working, realistic mother.
