THE estranged wife of Rangers legend Andy Goram is planning an explosive new book on her life with the football bad boy.

Miriam Goram is planning to tell her story after the star finally started divorce proceedings - seven years after they separated.

Shocked former model Miriam, 40, was served with divorce papers at her home in Kilmaurs, Ayrshire, by solicitors acting for her hell-raising husband.

If she does not oppose the action at Lanark Sheriff Court, then the divorce will go ahead in a matter of weeks.

The move by Goram, 45, has sparked speculation he may be about to marry long-term girlfriend Elaine Mitchell, 47.

Miriam is working with a ghostwriter and a number of publishers have expressed an interest.

Womanising Goram brought out a best-selling book last November called The Goalie, which told of his riotous life both on and off the pitch.

The couple separated in 2003 but kept up an on-off relationship - even going on holiday 18 months ago. They used to own a home and bar in Lanark but they were sold off years ago.

Miriam, who now uses her maiden surname Wyllie, said yesterday: "I got the divorce summons to my home about three weeks ago. It was a big surprise and came out of the blue. I thought Andy might have phoned me first.

"I won't oppose the divorce action so it will probably go ahead in the next few weeks.

"There is no ill-feeling and Andy still keeps in touch with my older daughter Kerry, who thinks the world of him.

"I have decided to write a book about my time with Andy. There are some great stories to tell and it will also be a chance to set the record straight.

"I won't hold anything back but I won't be using it to have a pop at Andy because we are still friends."

Miriam says she is currently in a relationship with a work colleague but has no immediate plans to remarry.

Goram was married twice before getting hitched to Miriam in Alloway, Ayrshire, in July 2001.

But they split after less than two years over his alleged infidelities Miriam - who now runs Bar One in Saltcoats - also has a three-year-old daughter, Katie. She has always denied Goram is the father.

Goram now lives in Rutherglen, Glasgow, and is a popular after-dinner speaker, often appearing with leading criminal lawyer Donald Findlay QC.

Yesterday, Goram confirmed he was trying to divorce Miriam. He said: "We have been separated for such a long time now, it makes sense.

"Miriam and I hardly speak now though there is no ill-feeling.

"I am getting on with my life - and have no plans to marry. I'm running my own pub in Rutherglen with my pal and it is going well.

"I don't have any problems with the book so long as she doesn't tell any lies. After all, I have done my own book."
