MILWAUKEE BUCKS' ABDELNABY TO APPEAR AT JOHN MARSHALL HIGH SCHOOL TO LAUNCH PBS SPECIAL 'HIGHER GOALS'
MILWAUKEE BUCKS' ABDELNABY TO APPEAR AT JOHN MARSHALL HIGH SCHOOL TO LAUNCH PBS SPECIAL 'HIGHER GOALS' WHAT: An assembly at John Marshall High School where Milwaukee Buck center Alaa Abdelnaby will help launch "Higher Goals," an upcoming PBS educational special, which encourages teenagers to stay in school and get a good education. The program includes: -- A 30-minute PBS special, featuring basketball star Isiah Thomas, to inspire young athletes with professional sports dreams to focus on their education. The special will air Oct. 11 and copies will be distributed to 4,500 inner-city schools nationwide. -- A $2,000 "Higher Goals" scholarship from Toyota Motor Sales will go to each of the 20 "Higher Goals" schools. A check will be presented to John Marshall High School by Pat Donahue, general manager, Wilde Toyota. -- Music Video Contest held between 30 schools nationwide. Tape produced by John Marshall students was one of 10 finalists. Abdelnaby will make a special presentation to John Marshall video team which produced the tape.
