MILLIKEN & COMPANY REACHES OUT TO MIDWESTERN FLOOD VICTIMS

ATLANTA, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Milliken and Company's Hospitality Carpet Division responded to the lack of replacement floor covering in Midwestern flood relief efforts with $50,000 worth of carpet.
Milliken contributed the product to Operation Rebuild, an alliance of St. Louis-area businesses organized to aid reconstructive efforts.
Installation of the 2,100 square yards of new carpet is expected to re-cover the floors of some 150 to 200 flood-damaged households and businesses in the greater St. Louis area by December.
"Milliken's donation is by far the largest single donation we received," said Jim Gould, co-founder of Operation Rebuild. Milliken's contribution will assist the local Salvation Army, which has been overwhelmed by the more than 20,000 people affected by flooding at the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers.
Dean Gaffney, Central U.S. Sales Manager, Milliken Hospitality Carpet, noted: "Milliken & Company has always tried to support people in their times of need. This was an opportunity where our products could respond directly to alleviate some of the damage faced by hundreds of people in the greater St. Louis area."
Founded in 1865 in Portland, Maine, Milliken & Company is one of the world's largest textile manufacturers.
