MILLER SIGNS LARRY BIRD TO PROMOTE ITS RESPONSIBLE DRINKING PROGRAM
 MILWAUKEE, Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Larry Bird has signed an agreement with Miller Brewing Co. to promote its responsible consumption program and participate in other Miller-sponsored promotional activities, a Miller Brewing Co. official announced today.
 Richard F. Strup, senior vice president-marketing for Miller, said Bird will be featured in "Think When You Drink" TV and radio commercials beginning in early 1993. His likeness also will be used on "Think When You Drink" point-of-sale material, print advertisements and merchandise.
 "We're extremely pleased to team up with Larry Bird -- one of the greatest basketball players of all time," said Strup. "Larry's honesty and sincerity, combined with the respect he has earned on and off the court, make him a highly credible spokesman for our "Think When You Drink' program."
 In addition, Bird has agreed to participate in other major marketing programs for the brewer. Details of those programs will be announced at a later date.
 "I'm delighted to become associated with such a high-quality company like Miller," said Bird. "Miller has shown a real commitment to marketing its products responsibly as well as promoting responsible consumption."
 Miller is a wholly owned subsidiary of Philip Morris Companies, Inc. Principal beer brands include Miller Lite, Miller Genuine Draft, Miller Genuine Draft Light, Miller High Life, Miller Reserve, Lowenbrau, Magnum, Meister Brau and Milwaukee's Best. Miller also produces Sharp's, a non-alcohol brew.
