MILLER, CANFIELD, PADDOCK AND STONE HIRES SPENCER ABRAHAM

 /ADVANCE/DETROIT, May 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone has hired Spencer Abraham, former chairman of the Michigan Republican Party. As counsel to the firm, Abraham will advise Michigan governmental entities and private businesses.
 "The addition of Spencer Abraham broadens and strengthens our governmental and business law practices," said Leonard D. Givens, Miller Canfield's executive partner. "Mr. Abraham will be based in our Detroit office and will work with attorneys in our Michigan offices and our Washington, D.C., office," said Givens.
 Abraham was deputy chief of staff for former Vice President Dan Quayle, 1990-91. He also served as co-chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, 1991-93. He is also the past chairman of the Republican National Committee Rules Committee.
 George E. Bushnell Jr., president-elect nominee of the American Bar Association and Miller Canfield attorney, stated, "Spencer Abraham brings vast experience in both the private and public sectors. That, coupled with his superb legal abilities, gives great experience to Michigan's oldest law firm. We are honored and proud that he has joined us."
 Abraham is a founder of the Federalist Society, a group of over 2,500 judges, lawyers, professors, and law students with regional chapters and a national office located in Washington, D.C. He also formerly served as an assistant professor at Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
 He holds a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and a J.D. degree from Harvard Law School. He and his wife Jane Abraham are expecting twins in July.
 The 260-attorney law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone has offices in Ann Arbor, Bloomfield Hills, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Howell, Kalamazoo, Lansing, and Monroe, Mich.; Washington, D.C.; Boca Raton and Gulf Breeze, Fla.; and Gdansk and Warsaw, Poland.
