MILL SERVICE TO SUSPEND REMEDIATION ACTIVITIES FOR CHRISTMAS
PITTSBURGH, Dec. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Mill Service announced today that, at the request of the community, it is temporarily suspending remediation efforts at the Mill Service Yukon facility for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Mill Service is currently engaged in implementation of plans approved by the Department of Environmental Resources involving additional lime treatment and stabilization of wastes contained in the company's Impoundment No. 6 at Yukon.
Some members of the community have expressed concerns that these remediation efforts might interfere with their enjoyment of the Christmas holidays. "Although Mill Service believes there is no basis for these concerns, the company wishes to assure all a Merry Christmas," stated Mill Service Vice President Philip Costantini. "In the spirit of the season, activities at the Yukon facility will be suspended on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25, 1991. The company is eager to complete the work underway at Yukon, and such efforts will resume on Thursday, Dec. 26."
Mill Service wishes all residents of the community a Merry Christmas.
