MID-POINT 1993: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS DELIVER MIXED REPORT

 SAN DIEGO, July 19 /PRNewswire/ -- In June, The Executive Committee (TEC) surveyed a sample of its 2,500 members in the United States to determine chief executive officers' plans for the next six months. Of 172 respondents, most run $2 million to $100 million companies. TEC is an international organization of chief executive officers with headquarters in San Diego.
 1. Which of the following best describes how the Clinton Administration's current or anticipated actions have affected your business strategy for 1993?
 48 percent - His actions have encouraged me to be more negative in planning for my business.
 25 percent - His actions have had no impact in planning for my business.
 24 percent - His actions have made me take a wait-and-see attitude in business planning.
 3 percent - His actions have encouraged me to be more positive in planning for my business.
 2. In the second half of 1993, do you plan to:
 49 percent - Retain the same size workforce.
 38 percent - Add employees to your workforce.
 13 percent - Lay off employees.
 3. If you are planning to add employees within the next six months, how many do you anticipate adding?
 77 percent - Less than 10
 18 percent - 10 to 30
 4 percent - 31 to 60
 1 percent - 61 to 100
 4. If you are a manufacturer, are you gearing up to increase production in the rest of 1993?
 44 percent - Yes
 56 percent - No
