MICROWAVE LABORATORIES ELECTS NEW PRESIDENT; EMPHASIZES MOVE TO COMMERCIAL MARKETS

 RALEIGH, N.C., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Microwave Laboratories, Inc. (MLI) (NASDAQ: MWVL), a producer of high technology microwave products primarily for military, anti-radar applications, announced today the election of Richard S. Garard as President. Garard joined the Board of MLI in September of 1992 and has been working with the company on strategic planning issues.
 Garard joined MLI from Wavemat Inc., where he was chairman, president and CEO of the Michigan based producer of proprietary microwave products for the advanced materials industry. Garard earned his BS-Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and MA-Management from Ball State. Prior to joining Wavemat in 1987, he was President and COO of Froude Engineering and Sales & Marketing Director for Laboratory Equipment Corp.; accumulating over 20 years experience in Corporate Development, product introduction and sales into high technology industrial equipment markets.
 Gary Allen, a co-founder of the company who has held the position of President since November of 1989, has effective today, resigned as President and a Director of the company. Allen will work with the company at least through a transition period.
 According to Carl Everleigh, Chairman of the Board & CEO of MLI; "The appointment of Garard highlights our commitment to build on the company's strong product and technology base by emphasizing future growth in commercial applications. These product applications range from the communications market to electromagnetic testing and material processing with controlled microwave frequencies."
