 MICROPROSE RELEASES MANTIS
HUNT VALLEY, Md., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- MicroProse Software, Inc.,

a wholly owned subsidiary of MicroProse, Inc. (NASDAQ: MPRS), an international leader in entertainment software for personal computers and video game machines, announced today the release of "Mantis: XF5700 Experimental Space Fighter."
Developed by the company's newly acquired Greensburg, Pa., development group (formerly Paragon Software Corporation), Mantis allows gamers to save the planet from giant alien insects while providing exciting animated sequences, voice support, extensive sound effects, and a suspense-building musical score.
In the game, insect creatures have nearly wiped out the human race with a nuclear attack and have begun reproducing inside living human bodies, steadily destroying the world's population from within. The XF5700 Experimental Fighter (code name: Mantis), developed by Earth's first world government, features futuristic advanced weaponry. Players will be faced with the challenge of flying in combat against the collective power of the alien enemy. Digitized scenes advance the plot and pilots will need cunning strategy and intelligence, as well as combat skills, to destroy the aliens.
Mantis is available for the IBM-PC/compatible and requires 640K and a hard drive. It supports 256-color VGA graphics; Adlib, Roland, Sound Blaster, and Sound Master sound boards. The game supports mouse and keyboard -- a joystick is recommended. Suggested retail price is $59.95. Mantis will be available for CD-ROM later this fall, and a speech pack for the IBM compatible will be available shortly.
MicroProse, Inc., designs and markets interactive entertainment software for personal computers and video game systems. Its products are available internationally through major distributors, retailers, and mass merchants.
