MICRONICS COMPUTERS ANNOUNCES CHANGES IN BOARD OF DIRECTORS
FREMONT, Calif., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Micronics Computers Inc. (NASDAQ: MCRN) today announced changes in the composition of the board of directors which will establish a majority of outsiders on the board. The following members will stand for re-election to a new five member board of directors at the annual general meeting of shareholders scheduled for Feb. 14, 1992: Willard Selbach, chairman and private investor; Chuck K. Chan, general partner, AVI Management; Dean Chang, senior vice president of Research and Development and Strategic Planning, Micronics; Frank Lin, president and chief executive officer, Micronics; and William Shelander, general partner, Jafco America Ventures Inc.
In announcing the change Willard Selbach and Frank Lin noted that the changes were made for two reasons. First, it was felt that it was more appropriate that a public company's shareholders be represented by a majority of outside directors and, secondly, that as the company grows, the demands on operating officers' time requires them to devote more of their attention to operating issues.
Minsiu Huang and Harvey Wong have resigned from the board and will concentrate their efforts on their respective operating responsibilities. Huang will continue to serve as the vice president of operations with responsibility for worldwide procurement, production and shipping of both board and system products. Wong will maintain his position as vice president of System Integration and Special Projects. In addition, he will be devoting more of his time to the Portable Division.
