MICRODYNE INTRODUCES NEW NETWORK ADAPTERS, SOFTWARE PRODUCTS
 FOR X.25 COMMUNICATIONS
ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Microdyne (NASDAQ: MCDY) today announced two new high-speed adapters and two new related software products that provide personal computer users with faster and more flexible X.25 network communication capabilities. These new adapters -- the EXOS X.25 Extended Adapter for PC and the EXOS X.25 Extended Adapter for PS/2 -- deliver increased access to wide area network (WAN) communications at the same price as the previous versions.
Microdyne also introduced enhanced versions of its EXOS X.25 WAN Gateway and EXOS Link/X.25 software products, which work with the new adapters to provide users with reliable and flexible X.25 internetworking communications.
The EXOS X.25 Extended Adapters, sophisticated synchronous communications cards which feature a Motorola 68008 microprocessor, 1MB of memory and an RS-232-C (V.24) port supporting line speeds up to 64 Kbps, provide a reliable and flexible connectivity platform for IBM PC, XT, AT, PS/2 and compatibles.
The new EXOS X.25 Extended Adapters for PCs and PS/2 have been fully tested and are supported with Release 2.0 of both the EXOS X.25 WAN Gateway and EXOS Link/X.25 software, giving users much greater performance.
The EXOS X.25 WAN Gateway software provides LAN users with worldwide access to remote hosts and public databases via private or public X.25 packet-switching data networks (PDNs). The EXOS Link/X.25 software allows a single Novell NetWare network to connect simultaneously with up to 11 remote networks over X.25. Once connected, users can gain access to resources connected to any of the remote networks.
"Microdyne is committed to delivering to our customers improved performance in our X.25 products," said Ralph Armstrong, director of Wide Area Communications Products for Microdyne "This announcement is evidence of that commitment, as well as our on-going efforts, to provide the market with the highest quality network communication products possible."
