MICROCOM BELIEVES SPECTRUM SUIT WITHOUT MERIT

 NORWOOD, Mass., Nov. 19 ~PRNewswire~ -- Microcom, Inc. (NASDAQ: MNPI) today announced that the company is aware of a news release issued on Nov. 18, 1992 by Spectrum Information Technologies, Inc. ("Spectrum") stating that Spectrum has sued Microcom for patent infringement related to cellular data communications.
 "Microcom has not received formal notice of this action," said James M. Dow, Microcom president and CEO. "We cannot comment on it until we have had a chance to review a copy of the complaint with our counsel. However, we do not believe that Microcom infringes on any patented technology, and therefore, we feel the suit is without merit."
 Revenue related to cellular communications represents approximately 5 percent of Microcom's annual sales.
