MICROCOM ANNOUNCES THIRD QUARTER FINANCIAL RESULTS

 NORWOOD, Mass., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Microcom, Inc. (NASDAQ: MNPI) today reported financial results for the company's third quarter of fiscal year 1993.
 For the three months ended Dec. 31, 1992, the company reported revenues of $16,597,000 with an operating income of $330,000 and a net income per share of $.04. This compares to revenues of $19,404,000, operating income of $1,350,000 and a net income of $.11 for the third quarter of last year.
 "We are very pleased with the company's return to profitability," said James Dow, president and chief executive officer, "and continued improvement on our balance sheet." During the third quarter, the company divested its Utilities Product Group division in Durham, N.C. and, in a separate transaction divested its Relay division in Danbury, Conn. "These divestitures will allow us to focus on our core business and are consistent with our strategy of returning value to our stockholders and positioning Microcom as a significant contributor to the PC connectivity industry of the future," added Dow.
