MICROCOM ANNOUNCES MICROCOM VALUE PAK (MVP) FOR THE MACINTOSH
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Microcom(R) Inc., (NASDAQ: MNPI) developer of connectivity and utility products for the Mac and PC, today announced the release of Microcom Value Pak(tm) MVP. MVP is a complete collection of Microcom utilities for the Macintosh value-priced at $249. MVP provides Macintosh users with the essential utilities in one convenient, cost-effective package.
"With the introduction of MVP, users now have access to all of Microcom's utility products in one comprehensive and affordable package," stated Robert Capon, vice president of Microcom's Utilities Product Group. "MVP is the principle utility of Macintosh users will need to buy, and it is offered at a price significantly lower than the combined prices of the individual products."
Included in the MVP package of Macintosh utilities are:
-- Virex(R) - Comprehensive virus protection, detection and treatment for the Macintosh computer, and the industry's first commercial anti-virus software.
-- 911 Utilities(tm) - A collection of award-winning file and disk recovery tools. Included are the 911 Troubleshooting Guide(tm), a 300-page desktop reference and FileKnit(tm), a file defragmentation utility that improves drive performance.
-- Complete Undelete(tm) - A quick, convenient and reliable method for recovering files that have been thrown in the trash, even after the trash has been emptied.
-- Citadel with Shredder(tm) - An extensive security toolbox that acts as a fortress around a user's Macintosh, protecting it from unauthorized access. Includes volume protection, floppy drive security, screen lock, DES encryption and file shredder.
-- Carbon Copy(tm) for the Mac - Includes two single-user copies for complete remote control and file transfer over AppleTalk networks or normal phone lines.
Carbon Copy for the Mac provides three major benefits to users: the ability to diagnose and repair problems on a remote Macintosh; the ability to dial into an office computer to access applications, data and attached peripherals; and the ability to transfer files to another Mac. Additionally, Carbon Copy for the Mac makes MVP an ideal tool for notebook users as well as desktop users.
"We are very pleased to be able to offer our users such an impressive array of utilities at the unbeatable price of $249. The combined list price of all utilities included in MVP totals $598. By purchasing MVP, users are saving about $350," stated Capon. "Microcom is the only company that is currently offering such an extensive list of utilities at this price."
MVP comes equipped with documentation and diskettes for each product, along with a quick-reference overview card. Access to the Utilities Help Hotline(tm) and Microcom's UPGate(tm) bulletin board service is included in MVP, as well as a coupon for a Virex update subscription.
Available immediately through resellers, MVP is priced at $249. For more product information please call 919-490-1277.
