MICROCOM ANNOUNCES INTENT TO ACQUIRE CLIENT SERVER TECHNOLOGIES
NORWOOD, Mass., Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Microcom(R), Inc. (NASDAQ: MNPI) today announced it has entered into negotiations to acquire Client Server Technologies, Inc. (CST) located in New Rochelle, N.Y.
CST develops integrated software that enables MIS and LAN managers to centrally manage and control resources across multiple heterogeneous LANs. With funding from Microcom, CST has developed a product that provides realtime management of PC workstations connected to local area networks.
"This exciting software technology created by Client Server Technologies fills a key position in our LAN connectivity strategy," stated James M. Dow, Microcom president and CEO. "Combined with our existing bridge/router line we can now offer users both the hardware to interconnect LANs and the software to manage the PCs on those networks."
"LAN installations and interconnections continue to expand at every organizational level. This fact, combined with the recognition that better tools are needed to control support costs and manage PC resources effectively, has created a significant market for our product," said Emerick Woods, Client Server Technologies president. "Microcom's resources, and customer and distributor relationships will be invaluable in realizing this opportunity."
Microcom plans to announce the new product from the CST acquisition within the next 90 days.
