MICROCOM ANNOUNCES CARBON COPY FOR WINDOWS 2.0; NOW SHIPPING; NEW 3-IN-1 CAPABILITIES ENABLES WINDOWS REMOTE COMMUNICATION: LANS, ACS AND MODEMS

 NORWOOD, Mass., March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Microcom, Inc., (NASDAQ: MNPI) a leading developer of PC connectivity solutions, today introduced Carbon Copy for Windows 2.0, a substantially updated and enhanced version of the original remote communications software for Windows. Carbon Copy for Windows 2.0 enables users to support, access, control and communicate with remote PCs running either Windows or DOS.
 Carbon Copy for Windows 2.0 satisfies the needs of individual and organizations that have a mixture of communications environments, including point-to-point connections across a LAN, dial-out connection from LAN through Asynchronous Communications Server (ACS) and PC-to-PC communication via modems.
 In addition, 256-color Super VGA resolutions are supported along with 256-to-16 color conversions, Windows-to-Windows and Windows-to-DOS connections and substantially increased file transfer speed. Carbon Copy for Windows 2.0 is compatible with the DOS Host program in Microcom's Carbon Copy for DOS, including versions 5.22, 6.0 and 6.1. Providing users with extensive modem support, 134 specific modem descriptors are supported by Carbon Copy for Windows 2.0. Microcom provides users with assistance writing descriptors for modems that are not currently listed.

 Microcom is now shipping Carbon Copy for Windows 2.0. Complete Guest and Host capabilities for LAN, ACS and modem communication are provided in a single package. With its list price still at $199, Carbon Copy for Windows 2.0 breaks all value barriers.
 Through June 30, 1993, Microcom will provide a free upgrade to users of Carbon Copy for Windows 1.0 who purchased the software after Feb. 1, 1993. Also through June 30, 1993, users of any other version including DOS, or any brand of remote communications software can upgrade to Carbon Copy for Windows 2.0 for $49.

 -- Enhanced DOS support, allowing users to run DOS applications full
 screen, windowed or external to Windows

 -- Drag & Drop file transfer, enabling users to quickly and easily
 copy files
 -- Remote Clipboard, increasing productivity by enabling users to
 Cut or Copy data from an application on a local PC and Paste it
 into an application on a remote PC or vice-versa

 installed base of Carbon Copy for DOS users while providing
