MICR Check Encoding Module.

MICR Check Encoding Module, Business and Accounting Software Systems, Inc., P.O. Box 1444, Vail, CO 81658, 1-800-748-1964, $2,500 through June.

This new module allows payroll processors to print payroll checks from blank check stock using a Hewlett Packard LaserJet II or III printer, saving time and money by eliminating the need for different checks for each client. The module includes the necessary special magnetic toner cartridges for use with existing Hewlett-Packard LazerJet II or III printers, the special MICR characters (called soft fonts) 2,000 blank checks, legal size paper tray and enhanced version of the BASS Checkwriting Payroll System. In addition to the normal user-definable check formatting procedures included in all versions of the BASS Payroll System, the MICR module allows you to produce the special bank characters at the bottom of each check by specifying the bank account and the user's account number in that bank and the location of each item. The check number is also included in the MICR encoding process. A higher level version of the system is also offered with such extended features as automatic signatures (up to a user definable limit), logos and background shading and account auditing and is available for $5,400.
