MICHIGAN BELL OFFERS NEW DISCOUNT PLAN

MICHIGAN BELL OFFERS NEW DISCOUNT PLAN
DETROIT, April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Michigan Bell today began offering

an enhanced discount plan designed to cut costs for callers who make frequent zone and long-distance calls within a 30-mile calling radius.
Circle Calling 30 provides a 30-percent discount on toll and zone charges for calls up to 30 miles, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and includes one-half hour of toll and zone calling for $3 a month.
In addition to the 30-mile plan, Michigan Bell also offers Circle Calling 20, which provides customers seven hours of long-distance and zone calling up to 20 miles for $20 a month. The plan, which went into effect Feb. 1, also provides a 30-percent discount on all calls that exceed the seven-hour limit.
"These plans are in direct response to customer demand for ways of reducing the cost of telephoning to and from the suburbs and rural areas," said Laird Spencer, senior director of marketing and business development for Michigan Bell.
The two plans are expected to yield customer savings totaling some $20 million a year and are in addition to more than $40 million in long- distance price cuts the company announced last December.
Spencer said Circle Calling 30 is the latest in a series of new services and discount pricing plans introduced by Michigan Bell since the state's new telecommunications law took effect Jan. 1.
