MICHIGAN BELL NAMES NEW VICE PRESIDENT FOR GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
DETROIT, April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Jack Dempsey, Michigan Bell's vice president for regulatory affairs, has been named vice president of government affairs, succeeding Gary Lytle.
Lytle recently was named director of federal relations for Michigan Bell's parent company, Ameritech. He now is based in Washington.
Dempsey will retain his regulatory affairs responsibilities -- which include serving as the company's liaison to the Michigan Public Service Commission -- in addition to managing Michigan Bell's government affairs functions.
Michigan Bell has scaled down the size of its Lansing government affairs office in the wake of passage of the Michigan Telecommunications Act in December 1991.
As part of the cutback in lobbying staff, John Currie, executive assistant for government affairs, was named senior director of the company's business market development organization. Economic development staff members who report to Currie also were transferred to the business market development group.
