MICHIGAN, OHIO COMPANIES TEAM UP IN CELLULAR JOINT VENTURE

ROSEVILLE, Mich., June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The largest authorized agents for Cellular One in Michigan and southern Ohio have teamed up to form a joint venture company in Ohio.
Authorized Cellular/Security One, a mobile communications and security company headquartered in Roseville, is the No. 1 authorized agent for Cellular One in Michigan.
Future Communications in Columbus, Ohio, is Cellular One's No. 1 agent in the region that includes Columbus and Cincinnati.
The 50-50 joint venture company, called Future Cellular, is opening its first store in the Carriage Place Shopping Center at 4816 Sawmill Road, Columbus.
Authorized Cellular/Security One, established in 1987 by brothers David and Greg Gagnon, started with one location and two employees. It now has three locations in metropolitan Detroit with a fourth being added this summer, 34 employees and annual sales of $2.5 million.
Authorized Cellular ranks No. 25 on a listing of Michigan's 100 fastest-growing companies. It placed No. 480 among the nation's fastest-growing companies ranked by Inc. magazine last October.
Future Communications was established two years ago by husband and wife team, Wayne and Catherine "Charlie" Hinerman. They now have two stores.
Future Communications will benefit from the joint venture in that it can learn from Authorized Cellular's experience and marketing expertise.
"Staying two steps ahead of the competition in service and product will allow us to continue to dominate the market," said Wayne and Charlie Hinerman.
The joint venture allows Authorized Cellular an opportunity to expand without starting from scratch in a new market. Authorized Cellular can benefit from Future Communications' knowledge of the local market, which is distinctly different from its home base.
The new Future Cellular store will carry the combined products of the two partners and will test out new products. Future Communications carries all Cellular One rental products, as virtually all of its customers rent rather than buy cellular phones. Future Communications also carries CodeAlarm car, home and office security systems.
Authorized Cellular carries a diverse line of high-quality cellular phone and vehicle security products, including PacTel's Teletrac vehicle tracking and electronic emergency roadside assistance system.
Both Future Communications and Authorized Cellular are dedicated to the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
"We are pleased to be partners with a company that shares our commitment to customer satisfaction," said Authorized Cellular President David Gagnon, whose company is the only Michigan Cellular One agent to achieve the platinum designation for meeting sales and service requirements. "We know satisfied customers come back and bring more customers with them. Customer satisfaction is the reason for our success and the key to our future."
