MICHIGAN'S 4th-LARGEST ARCHITECTURAL FIRM BREAKING GROUND
FOR HEADQUARTERS BUILDING APRIL 27; NEARLY 200 JOBS TO STAY IN STATE
LIVONIA, Mich., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Ghafari Associates, Inc., one of the nation's fastest-growing architectural firms, has announced a groundbreaking ceremony for its new $5 million headquarters building in Dearborn.
Michigan Gov. John Engler will join the firm's president and founder, Yousif Ghafari, at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 27, in breaking ground at the site located near Ford Motor Company's world headquarters.
The groundbreaking ceremony coincides with the 10th anniversary of the firm's founding. Ghafari Associates began operations in 1982 with just five employees. Ghafari has grown its staff of full-time architects, engineers, designers and technicians to more than 200 people in less than a decade -- ranking in INC. magazine's list of the nation's 500 fastest-growing companies for three consecutive years. Ghafari Associates is also ranked in Engineering News Record as one of the nation's top design firms.
The privately held firm, whose clients include General Motors, Ford Motor Company and Chrysler Corporation, generated revenues of more than $18 million in 1991. Recent Ghafari projects include the expansion of Children's Hospital of Michigan, the Biological Sciences Building at Wayne State University and the Patterson Technical Center at Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn.
Ghafari Associates plans to house most of its employees in a sparkling new 43,000-square-foot building on a four-acre site. The building was designed by Harold Binder, A.I.A., director of design for Ghafari's Commercial/Institutional Division. The firm plans to move into its new headquarters by the end of 1992.
The firm's use of innovative computer-aided designs and full-service approach to new projects has met with tremendous success. Ghafari Associates' professional services include: architectural design, mechanical and electrical engineering, structural engineering as well as interior design and landscape architecture. Ghafari Associates has satellite offices in Sterling Heights, Detroit, Flint and Indianapolis.
