MICHAEL WILSON NAMED PRESIDENT OF ESI ENERGY
JUNO BEACH, Fla., Nov. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael M. Wilson

today was named president of ESI Energy, Inc., the non-utility energy subsidiary of FPL Group, Inc. (NYSE: FPL).
Wilson has resigned from the Florida Public Service Commission where he served since 1985 and was its chairman from 1989 to 1990. Prior to his appointment to the commission, he worked for seven years with the Office of Public Counsel in Florida.
James L. Broadhead, chairman and chief executive officer of FPL Group, said that Wilson has extensive knowledge of the electric industry and affiliations with many nationally recognized electric utility organizations. "Mr. Wilson's background and experience make him exceptionally well qualified to head ESI's participation in the non-utility energy field," Broadhead said.
ESI Energy was formed in 1985 and has ownership positions in non-utility energy projects in five states, but none in Florida. The projects utilize the renewable fuel sources of windpower, solar geothermal, biomass and municipal waste, as well as conventional fossil fuel-fired cogeneration facilities.
Wilson, whose appointment is effective immediately, received his undergraduate degree in 1968 from Florida Presbyterian College (Eckerd College) and a law degree in 1974 from Florida State University. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), vice chairman of the NARUC Committee on Electricity, a member of the Secretary of Energy's Advisory Board, and a member of the Advisory Council and the Strategic Issues Committee of the Electric Power Research Institute.
In addition to ESI Energy, FPL Group's other subsidiaries include Florida Power & Light Company, Turner Foods Corporation and Qualtec Quality Services, Inc.
