MICHAEL JORDAN WINS JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED FOR MVP PERFORMANCE
CHICAGO, June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael Jordan's MVP performance in the NBA Finals has netted him a 1993 Jeep(R) Grand Cherokee Limited, presented today by the Jeep/Eagle Division of Chrysler Corporation (NYSE: C).
Jordan, who set a Finals record for most points in a half (35) and averaged 35.8 points a game, led the Chicago Bulls to its second consecutive NBA world championship. Jordan won the MVP award last year also.
"Michael has proven to be consistent and durable over his career," said Thomas J. McAlear, director of marketing operations. "His ability to go anywhere and do virtually anything on a basketball court is becoming sports legend. It's fitting that he's winning the New Jeep because the Grand Cherokee is consistent, durable and has the ability to go anywhere. And, of course, Jeep is a legendary vehicle."
The Grand Cherokee has received its own MVP awards, and one came even before it went on sale in April. The Grand Cherokee won Public Television's 1992 MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Award for Best Multiple Purpose Vehicle. More recently, in the July issue of Robb Report magazine, the Grand Cherokee was named one of the 10 best American vehicles currently available on the market, as chosen by the editors and auto writers of Robb Report. The Grand Cherokee is the only sport utility vehicle with a driver's side air bag and features anti-lock brakes that work in both two- and four-wheel drive. Trade press have judged the Grand Cherokee's on- and off-road ride and handling to be best in class.
Jeep and Eagle are the official vehicles of the NBA, and for the past six years, Jeep has sponsored the NBA Finals MVP award.
