MICHAEL JORDAN TO OPEN NATIONWIDE GOLF CENTERS; FORMER BULLS STAR TO SHARE HIS ENTHUSIASM FOR SPORTS WITH PEOPLE OF ALL AGES

 /ADVANCE/ CHICAGO, Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Former Chicago Bulls superstar Michael Jordan has announced his post-basketball retirement plans include another favorite sport -- golf!
 Jordan today launched the Michael Jordan Golf Company -- an innovative and ambitious plan to build comprehensive training and recreational golf centers nationwide. The company's goal is to bring a high quality golf experience to everyone and to make that quality accessible and affordable.
 These Michael Jordan Golf Centers will consist of superior practice and learning facilities, including:
 -- 80-tee practice ranges (both grass and artificial tees), with
 water hazards, bunkers and target greens in the landing area;
 -- Putting greens and chipping greens complete with bunkers;
 -- Classrooms with state-of-the-art teaching equipment for teaching;
 -- PGA-certified golf instructors;
 -- Miniature golf courses featuring a Michael Jordan theme;
 -- Pro-shops and refreshment facilities.
 "They will be unsurpassed practice and recreational centers for everyone who loves the game, just like I do, and it won't matter whether they are beginners or pros," said Jordan. "The Michael Jordan Golf Centers will combine state-of-the-art practice facilities in a great setting which can be enjoyed by everyone in the family, everyone who enjoys golf."
 Each Michael Jordan Golf Center includes a commitment to create an aggressive on-site youth program to teach basic fundamentals and rules of golf; provide practice facilities; offer instructional help to instill personal discipline; and help build the self-esteem that comes from mastering the game.
 The president and CEO of the Michael Jordan Golf Company is Charles W. Reeves. Reeves' experience includes serving as executive vice president of the Jack Nicklaus Development Corporation and is currently president of TCR Golf Enterprises, Inc. Steven C. McLennan, formerly director of golf for all facilities owned and operated by the Pebble Beach Company in California, is responsible for operations management. The Rev. John P. Smyth, the executive director of the Maryville City of Youth in Des Plaines, Ill., will lead a National Youth Advisory Board for the Michael Jordan Golf Company. Jordan will be a member of the board of directors of the company.
 The first Michael Jordan Golf Center is expected to be built in 1994 in the Chicagoland area.
