MICHAEL DAWIDA TO HOST PRESS CONFERENCE TO ANNOUNCE FORMATION
 OF BI-PARTISAN MAGLEV CAUCUS
 When: Thursday, Dec. 12
 Time: 11 a.m.
 Where: Pittsburgh Hilton, Duquesne Room
State Sen. Michael Dawida (D-Allegheny) is hosting a press conference to formally announce the formation of a new bi-partisan maglev caucus in the Pennsylvania Legislature. This represents the first state legislative caucus to address high speed maglev transportation in the United States. Joining Dawida in co-chairing the caucus are Sen. Michael Fisher (R-Allegheny), Rep. Joseph Patrarca (D-Westmoreland), Rep. Rick Geist (R-Blair), Rep. Gordon Linton (D-Philadelphia) and Rep. Rick Cessar (R-Allegheny).
John Kapala, executive vice president of Maglev, Inc., will be present to update the media on efforts of the consortia to develop a first phase technology demonstration and new maglev industry for Pennsylvania in light of the recently passed federal surface transportation legislation. This legislation provides $725 million for the development and construction of a high speed maglev demonstration project to be selected on a competitive basis.
Dawida said that the objective of the caucus is to accelerate the state effort in conjunction with other public, private and labor entities in bringing this new technology and associated industry to Pennsylvania. In so doing, the caucus can ensure Pennsylvania's successful bid for this prototype project. Details of the new federal legislation and other issues regarding the caucus will be discussed at the conference.
A detailed news release will be transmitted on PR Newswire this afternoon.
