MICHAEL ANTHONY JEWELERS RENEWS PROFESSIONAL SPORTS LICENSING AGREEMENTS

 MT. VERNON, N.Y., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael Anthony Jewelers, Inc. (AMEX: MAJ) announced today that it has recently completed renewals of its 4 major professional sports license agreements. The majority of these licenses have been renewed through the end of 1995. As the premier licensee of precious metal jewelry in North America, Michael Anthony manufactures and distributes team logo jewelry in karat gold and sterling silver.
 Additionally, the latest facts and figures have just been released by the NHL, and out of 290 North American licensees, Michael Anthony has been ranked among the top ten non-apparel licensees. The figures were published in the April 15 issue of Sports Licensing International.
 Michael Anthony's other licenses include World Cup, U.S. Soccer, Peanuts, Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, Norfin Trolls, Cadillac, Playboy and numerous collegiate licenses. In addition, the company is currently in negotiations for the 1996 Olympics, Coors Beer, Budweiser Beer, Miller Beer, Pontiac Firebird and special joint ventures with major league sports celebrities and their respective teams for special limited edition 14k gold signed and numbered trading cards.
 Sales of Michael Anthony's licensed products are at an all time high. For the first three fiscal quarters ended March 31, sales of licensed products were over $7 million, compared to $3.7 million for last year's comparable period. This is an increase of 89 percent, and next year's sales are projected to exceed $15 million.
