MICHAEL A. GALLAGHER NAMED FIRST FIDELITY EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

 LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J., June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael A. Gallagher has been named an executive vice president of First Fidelity Bancorporation (NYSE: FFB), the company announced today.
 Earlier this month, Gallagher was appointed head of the company's Corporate Operations and Systems Department, reporting directly to Tony Terracciano, chairman and chief executive officer.
 Since joining the bank in 1990, Gallagher had been serving as senior vice president and head of Staff Services, a division of Corporate Operations and Systems. In 1991 and 1992, he assumed additional responsibility as head of Merchants Bank (North) of Wilkes-Barre, then First Fidelity's northeastern Pennsylvania banking affiliate and now part of First Fidelity Bank, N.A., Pennsylvania.
 He previously served with Chase Manhattan Bank for more than 20 years in a variety of domestic and foreign assignments, including line of business manager, operations manager and senior financial staff officer.
 Gallagher, 45, holds a bachelor's degree from Pace University and a master's degree from Columbia University. He is a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He is married, the father of two and lives in Madison, N.J.
 First Fidelity is among the country's 25 largest banking companies. It operates more than 600 offices through its principal affiliates, Union Trust Company, of Stamford, Connecticut, and the First Fidelity Banks of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
