 MHI GROUP NAMES J.C. OGIER MATHEWES VP, CFO
 TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- MHI Group, Inc.


(NYSE: MH), which markets pre-need and at-need funeral and cemetery services, today announced the appointment of J.C. Ogier Mathewes to the newly expanded position of vice president, chief financial officer.
 Mathewes, 48, is a certified public accountant with more than 20 years of financial management experience with corporations and a major international accounting firm.
 He joins MHI after serving for two years as vice president and chief financial officer with Brendle's Inc., an Elkins, N.C.-based discount retailer with annual sales of about $300 million. He also held a variety of financial management positions with RJR Nabisco, Inc., its Del Monte Tropical Fruit Corporation subsidiary, Spring Mills, Inc., and with the public accounting firm of Arthur Andersen & Co. Mathewes holds a master of accountancy and B.S. in management degrees from the University of South Carolina.
