METROPHONE KICKS OFF NEW SERVICE WITH MOVIE STUDIO TRIP GIVEAWAY
WAYNE, Pa., July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Movie trivia buffs who can name the wacky male leads who played in "Wayne's World," or the crazy kid who charmed the country in "Home Alone," just might be headed for a star- struck vacation at MGM Studios in Florida.
It's all part of Metrophone's newest "Feature Directory" service, which allows cellular customers to dial one quick and easy code (star-123) to access dozens of cellular features, free movie and video reviews, and cellular "news you can use" tips without having to remember numbers or dialing instructions.
According to David Standig, Metrophone's director of marketing, the company is offering the feature free of charge in an effort to provide its customers with easy access to information that cellular users say they want and need.
"We're constantly talking to our customers and asking them through a variety of research methods what features and services they would like with their cellular phones," he said.
"Features that make their lives easier, and which at the same time can be accessed quickly and easily, are the most popular," said Standig, citing as examples localized Shadow Traffic updates, star-911 Emergency Service and free Keystone AAA Roadside Directions. Movie reviews and restaurant suggestions which customers can dial from work to home also received high marks, he added.
In addition to service features, the star-123 number also allows Metrophone mobile customers to dial up entertainment features, including reviews and Delaware Valley entertainment highlights by radio personality Mark "the Shark" Drucker.
Standig said the MGM Studio trip giveaway was designed to highlight the feature directory's movie review feature, which research has proved to be highly popular with customers. The contest, open to all Metrophone personal service plan customers, is also designed to encourage users to take advantage of the many services available with the carrier's mobile service.
Information about the contest can be obtained by calling the company's customer service department at 800-234-9666 or star-611 from a cellular phone.
