METRO-GOLDWYN-MAYER ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENTS

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Aug. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. (MGM) today announced the appointments of Michael S. Hope and A. Robert Pisano as executive vice presidents. Hope will assume responsibility for all financial and administrative functions, while Pisano will be responsible for business and legal affairs as well as all non-motion picture business activities. The corporate functions which these executives will direct will provide services to the company's two studios, MGM and United Artists, as well as to MGM/UA Distribution. Both executives will report to MGM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Frank Mancuso.
"By structuring the company in this manner," Mancuso said, "we will provide efficient, cost-effective support services for both studios, which will feed motion pictures to our unified worldwide distribution system. These efficiencies will strengthen our position in today's cost-competitive environment.
"I have worked closely with Bob and Mike for many years. Each is a highly respected leader in his field, and they are uniquely qualified to assume these responsibilities. Equally important, they are team players who have worked together before and thus can maximize their contributions to the organization."
Hope was formerly executive vice president - Planning and Operations for Paramount Communications Inc. Prior to joining Paramount in 1983, Hope was a partner with the accounting firm of Ernst & Young.
Pisano is a partner with the law firm of O'Melveny & Myers, where he has specialized in entertainment and litigation matters. Pisano was executive vice president of Paramount Pictures from 1985 to 1991, where he served as general counsel and a member of the office of the chairman.
The company is involved in the worldwide production and distribution of motion pictures and television programs and operates theatre chains in the U.K. and Europe.
