 METRO AIRLINES REPORTS DECEMBER TRAFFIC
DALLAS, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Metro Airlines, Inc. (OTC: MAIR)

today announced that traffic from its continuing American Eagle operations at Dallas/Fort Worth in December 1991 increased from the comparable operations a year ago. The company's total traffic for the month declined substantially from year-earlier levels due to the shutdown of Metro Express in Atlanta, the shutdown and subsequent sale of Metro Air Northeast, and sale of the Company's Caribbean operations, all of which occurred in 1991.
From continuing operations at Dallas/Fort Worth for the month of December 1991, Metro flew 31.6 million revenue passenger miles, up 3.6 percent from 30.5 million a year ago. A revenue passenger mile is the equivalent of flying one paying passenger one mile. The company flew 47.4 million available seat miles in December 1991, virtually the same as in December 1990. Load factor, or percentage of seats filled with paying passengers, was 66.6 percent compared to 64.3 percent in December 1990. The company carried 135,824 passengers in December 1991, an increase of 4.2 percent from 130,346 in the same month a year ago.
In its D/FW operations for the twelve months ended Dec. 31, 1991, Metro flew 376.2 million revenue passenger miles, up 8.2 percent from 347.7 million a year ago. Available seat miles increased 6.5 percent to 585.3 million from 549.4 million. Load factor was 64.3 percent compared to 63.3 percent for the prior year. For the calendar year 1991, Metro's continuing operations carried 1,610,179 passengers, up 4.5 percent from 1,541,105 a year earlier.
Metro Airlines is a regional airline which operates as American Eagle, serving 25 cities from its Dallas/Fort Worth hub.
