METRO AIRLINES ANNOUNCES TRAFFIC DALLAS, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Metro Airlines, Inc.
(NASDAQ-NMS: MAIRC) today announced that traffic from its continuing American Eagle operations at Dallas/Fort Worth in January 1992 increased from the comparable operations a year ago. The company's total traffic for the month declined substantially from year-earlier levels due to the disposals of the company's former operations in Atlanta, the Northeast and the Caribbean, all of which occurred in 1991.
From continuing operations at Dallas/Fort Worth for the month of January 1992, Metro flew 28.1 million revenue passenger miles, up 0.5 percent from 28.0 million a year ago. A revenue passenger mile is the equivalent of flying one paying passenger one mile. The company flew 44.8 million available seat miles in January 1992, down 7.8 percent from January 1991. Load factor, or percentage of seats filled with paying passengers, was 62.7 percent compared to 57.6 percent in January 1991. The company carried 119,782 passengers in January 1992, virtually the same as in January 1991. Metro Airlines is a regional airline which operates as American Eagle, serving 25 cities from its Dallas/Fort Worth hub. METRO AIRLINES, INC.
