MESABA REPORTS NOVEMBER TRAFFIC

 MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Mesaba Aviation, Inc., a subsidiary of AirTran Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: ATCC), today reported flying 24.8 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in November, an 18.1 percent increase over 21.0 million in the same month last year (one RPM equals one passenger flown one mile).
 Mesaba reported carrying 115,847 passengers during the month, compared to 102,163 passengers in November 1992. The airline's passenger load factor this November was 47.6 percent, up from 45.2 percent in the same month one year ago.
 On a related note, the airline said that it has rescinded previously announced furloughs of approximately 10 percent of its pilots and instead will be hiring an additional 5 percent to accommodate expansion in the fourth quarter, including new service to the markets of Tri- Cities, Tenn. and State College, Pa.
 Mesaba operates as Northwest Airlink under a marketing agreement with Northwest Airlines. The regional carrier provides connecting airline services at Minneapolis/St. Paul and Detroit Metropolitan Airports. Currently, Mesaba serves 49 cities in 16 states, the District of Columbia, and one Canadian province.
