MESABA REPORTS DECEMBER TRAFFIC

 MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Mesaba Aviation, Inc., today reported flying 23.5 million revenue passenger mile (RPMs) in December, a 4.4 increase over 22.5 million flown in the same month last year (one RPM equals one passenger flown one mile). The airline said it carried 111,311 passengers during the month, an increase of 2.1% over 109,041 passengers carried last December.
 Mesaba operates as Northwest Airlink under a marketing agreement with Northwest Airlines. The regional carrier provides connecting airline services at Minneapolis/St. Paul International and Detroit Metropolitan Airports. Currently, Mesaba serves 50 cities in 16 states, the District of Columbia, and one Canadian province.
 Mesaba Aviation, Inc., is a wholly owned subsidiary of AirTran Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: ATCC). AirTran's common stock is traded on the NASDAQ National Market System under the symbol ATCC.
