MESA LABORATORIES INC. ANNOUNCES RECORD QUARTERLY SALES

 WHEAT RIDGE, Colo., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Mesa Laboratories Inc. (NASDAQ: MLAB) today reported record quarterly sales for its fiscal first quarter ended June 30, 1993.
 For the first quarter of fiscal 1994, net sales rose 34 percent to $1,380,000 from $1,031,000 in the same quarter one year ago. Net income for the period was $200,000, or $.05 per share, compared to $211,000, or $.05 per share, last year. Also, the company announced that its order backlog doubled during the fiscal first quarter to approximately $500,000 as it closed and consolidated its Oklahoma operation at its Wheat Ridge plant.
 Luke Schmieder, president, stated that as planned the company moved its recently acquired Sonic Flow Measurement Instrument line to Colorado at the end of June. Initial operations for the line began in early July, but production of Sonic Flow Products was limited during July as the company increased its staff in Colorado. When hiring goals are met, Mesa will have expanded its Colorado work force by approximately 15 employees, according to Schmieder.
 Mesa Laboratories develops, acquires, manufactures and markets electronic measurement instruments for industrial, pharmaceutical and medical applications.
