MESA CONTINUES RECORD TRAFFIC TREND

 FARMINGTON, N.M., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Mesa Airlines Inc. (NASDAQ: MESA) today reported its traffic for October 1993. The total number of passengers carried was 406,328, a 12.6 percent increase over October 1993. Total available seat miles increased 6.9 percent to 152,590,000. Revenue passenger miles were 78,711,000, an increase of 7.8 percent. Load factor was 51.6 percent vs. 51.2 percent in October 1992.
 "Our continuing focus on aircraft deployment and utilization has improved year-over-year load factors," stated Larry Risley, chief executive officer for the company. "Our advance bookings compare favorably as well."
 Mesa Airlines Inc. is the largest independently owned regional carrier in the country, comprised of seven different airline operations. The Mesa division operates as an independent carrier out of Albuquerque, as a United Express carrier out of Denver and Los Angeles, and an America West Express carrier out of Phoenix. The Skyway Airlines division operates as a code-share with Midwest Express Airlines out of Milwaukee. Air Midwest Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary, operates as USAir Express out of Kansas City, Mo. The Florida Gulf division operates as USAir Express out of hubs in Orlando, New Orleans, and Boston. WestAir Commuter Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary, operates as United Express with hubs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle. Mesa recently announced an expanded joint marketing agreement with America West Airlines feeding its Columbus, Ohio, hub beginning Dec. 15, 1993.
