.YACHTS-WOMAN Ellen McArthur will talk about her life and career in Liverpool today. The round-theworld sailor arrived in the city's marina yesterday as part of a voyage around the UK.

She is sailing with a group of young people, all members of the Ellen McArthur Trust.

The youngsters, all in recovery from cancer, are sailing the 48ft Scarlet Oyster the 2000 nautical miles around Britain.

They started on May 3 and are stopping at 17 ports around the country before finishing next month.

Ellen Dame Ellen is hoping to raise pounds 100,000 during the voyage to fund future projects.

Dame Ellen gives her talk at Liverpool Medical Institution, in Mount Pleasant, from 6.30 today.

For details and tickets, visit www.roundbritain.org .TWO firefighters won a bravery award after rescuing a resident from a house fire. Jason Lyth and Lloyd Blower, from Ellesmere Port fire station, received the Act of Courage accolade at the Dee 106.3 Community Awards ceremony in Chester.

They had entered the house in Elton last year through a bathroom window and found the occupant lying behind a bedroom door before bringing them to safety.
