MERRILL LYNCH NOMINATES TWO NEW DIRECTORS: GEORGE B. HARVEY AND WILLIAM L. WEISS

 NEW YORK, Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. (NYSE: MER) today announced the nomination of two new members to its board of directors: George B. Harvey, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Pitney Bowes, and William L. Weiss, chairman and chief executive officer of Ameritech.
 Merrill Lynch's stockholders will vote on the election of Messrs. Harvey and Weiss at the annual meeting, which is scheduled for April 29 in Princeton, N.J.
 Mr. Harvey, who has worked at Pitney Bowes for 36 years, started his career in finance, and served successively as the corporation's treasurer, controller and vice president-finance. He later assumed line responsibility for the business equipment group, and in 1987 was elected president, business systems, which included U.S. and international operations. He became president and chief operating officer in 1981, and assumed his current positions in 1983. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
 Mr. Weiss, who has spent his entire business career in the communications industry, joined Bell of Pennsylvania in 1951, where he rose through the management ranks, becoming a vice president in 1973. He was named vice president of operations for Wisconsin Telephone (now Wisconsin Bell) in 1976, president of Indiana Bell in 1978, and president and chief executive officer of Illinois Bell in 1981, and chairman and CEO the following year. He became chairman and CEO of Ameritech, the parent of the Bell companies serving Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin, when Ameritech began operations on Jan. 1, 1984. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University.
