MERGING VIDEO AND COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY IS SUBJECT OF CABLE SPECIAL
TRENTON, N.J., May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The ever expanding worlds of computer and video technology and how the two can be brought together to improve education and business was the focus of a one-day conference, which will be highlighted on the Cable Television Network of New Jersey.
CTN will air the morning session of the "Video and Computers: Converging Technologies" conference at William Paterson College's Shea Auditorium on Wednesday, May 6 from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m.
The increased usage and decreased expense of video conferencing is the topic of the first lecture by Dr. Robert Lucky, executive director of communications research for AT&T Bell Labs and author of "Silicon Dream." Lucky also discusses the application of image communication in both business and education.
The capabilities of desktop publishing to be used for multi-media presentations was demonstrated by Fred Hofstetter, associate provost and director of the Instructional Technology Center at the University of Delaware. Hofstetter developed the PODIUM software which allows a user to type an outline on any word processor. PODIUM reads the outline and creates a hypermedia web with navigation tools that let the user access any slide, image, animation, motion sequence or digital audio clip in seconds.
The conference, which took place Monday, May 5, marks the fourth time in so many years that telecommunication professors, teachers and administrators throughout New Jersey have convened to discuss the use of advance technology in the telecommunications industry.
Besides being aired statewide on CTN, the conference was uplinked to 32 colleges throughout the country.
CTN is a service of the New Jersey Cable Operators. Check your local listings for the CTN channel in your area.
