MERGER OF TWO WORLDWIDE GROUPS MAKES WNI LEADER IN THE $1 BILLION WEATHER SERVICES MARKET

 TOKYO, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Expanding its capabilities in the weather services market, Weathernews Inc. today announced that is has merged its worldwide operations with those of Oceanroutes Inc. The merger of the two groups makes Tokyo-based Weathernews the world's largest, most diversified and capable company in the business, according to Hiro Ishibashi, president of Weathernews.
 The merger joins two companies with complementary market sectors and technologies. Weathernews is pre-eminent in the media market, providing weather presentations and operating a 24-hour cable weather channel in Japan; the company is expanding its weather news services globally. Oceanroutes is the premier company worldwide in the ship routing and offshore site forecasting sectors where it will continue to operate, both organizations however pooling technical marketing and administrative resources.

 The merged company has operations in 12 countries and employs more than 450 professionals and support staff.
