MERCEDES-BENZ C-CLASS GOES ON SALE IN EUROPE INITIAL ORDERS INDICATE HEAVY DEMAND

MONTVALE, N.J., June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- The all-new 1994 Mercedes- Benz C-Class range of sedans goes on sale in Europe this week. Even before the on-sale date, C-Class orders placed with European dealers indicate heavy demand for the new car.
Beginning this November, the 1994 C-Class sedan will be available in the United States in two versions: the C220, powered by a 2.2-liter, 148-hp four-cylinder engine, and the C280, with a 2.8-liter, 194-hp six. Both engines feature four-valve-per-cylinder technology.
Like all `94 Mercedes-Benz cars, the U.S.-version C-Class models will have a full range of standard equipment such as dual airbags, ABS anti-lock brakes, climate control, electric sunroof, power seats, central locking, power windows, and cruise control.
A leader from an environmental standpoint, the new C-Class -- and all other `94 U.S. Mercedes-Benz models -- will feature air conditioning free of ozone-depleting chlorofluorocarbons, special paint to cut air pollution and recyclable plastics.
