MERCEDES CONVERTIBLE BECOMES A STAR

MONTVALE, N.J., July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- A lot of people have been asking recently, "What's a 300CE Cabriolet?" The eye-catching Mercedes- Benz convertible is being driven by young lawyer Mitch McDeere, central character in "The Firm," the hot new thriller from Paramount Pictures. The car in the movie is Smoke Silver with a chocolate brown leather interior and carries a suggested retail price of $76,500. McDeere's new employers lease the car for him as an inducement to join their Memphis law firm.
"Cabriolet" is a French word which denotes a convertible to most Europeans. The 300CE Cabriolet is the first four-seat Mercedes convertible since 1971, and Mercedes-Benz dealers report a waiting list for the car. Actually based on the 300CE -- a coupe version of the well-known 300E sedan -- the Mercedes Cabriolet combines convertible fun and four-seat coupe practicality. Naturally, it has all the safety and engineering qualities expected in a Mercedes-Benz, including a pop-up rollbar and dual airbags as standard equipment.
Operating the top is a breeze: after the top is unlatched from the front windshield, the fully-lined soft top folds down and stows automatically with the push of a button.
