MENTOR GRAPHICS TO SHIP ANACAD PRODUCTS; PROCEEDS WITH MIXED-SIGNAL SIMULATION DEVELOPMENT

DALLAS, June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Today at the Design Automation Conference (DAC), Mentor Graphics Corp. (NASDAQ: MENT) announced that it will begin immediate shipment of ANACAD Computer Systems' (Ulm, Germany) Eldo(R) analog simulation system. The company also announced that it is moving forward with its advanced mixed-signal simulation development efforts incorporating its own AccuSim(R), AccuParts(TM) and QuickSim II(TM) technology with ANACAD's Eldo analog and behavioral simulation products.
"We have conducted an in-depth investigation into the claims made by Analogy and have determined that their lawsuit is without merit," stated Mitch Weaver, Mentor Graphics Simulation Technology Division director of engineering. "As a result, we are beginning immediate shipment of Eldo to our customers and plan to introduce the first of a series of jointly developed analog and mixed-signal simulation products this fall.
"Mentor Graphics announced a long-term technology partnership with ANACAD in March of 1993. Earlier this year, Analogy Inc. (Beaverton, Ore.) filed a patent infringement suit in U.S. District Court in Portland, Ore., against ANACAD, and also against Mentor Graphics (to the extent it distributes ANACAD products in the United States).
The Eldo analog simulation system is a tightly integrated tool set for the solution of complex analog and systems problems, and analog analysis of large digital ICs. Application areas extend from the integrated circuit to system-level. The Eldo system provides high- performance analog simulation especially suited to solving very large circuit problems. Additional simulator facilities include Accelerated Timing Simulation and Mixed-Signal Simulation. Modules for Model Characterization, Circuit Optimization and Yield Analysis are also available.
ANACAD Computer Systems GmbH, founded in 1986, develops, markets and supports specialized solutions for the analog electronic design automation market. ANACAD has offices in Germany, France, England and the United States.
Mentor Graphics Corp., Wilsonville, Ore., was established in 1981 to design, manufacture, market and support electronic design automation (EDA) systems. The company is a leader in worldwide EDA sales, with revenues of $333,290,000 over the last reported 12 months. The company currently employs approximately 2,200 people worldwide. In addition to its corporate offices, Mentor Graphics has sales and support offices in locations worldwide. The company's headquarters are located at 8005 S.W.
