MENTOR GRAPHICS SHIPS RELEASE 8.2 AND UNVEILS VALUE-ADDED SERVICES BUSINESS GROUP

 SAN JOSE, Calif., March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Mentor Graphics Corp. (NASDAQ: MENT) today announced at its second San Jose-based Solutions Expo the shipment of the company's release 8.2 software. The new software release, which contains production releases of the company's top-down design, X-terminal and test synthesis products, complements the company's already available high-speed board and MCM products delivering the EDA industry's first fully integrated second generation software environment. The company also announced the formation of its Value- Added Services business group.
 "Our release 8.2 management and product development teams worked hand-in-hand with customers in order to deliver the quality and performance necessary for widespread customer adoption of our release 8.0 design environment," stated Tom Bruggere, chairman and chief executive officer of Mentor Graphics. "Release 8.2 is the production release of the aggressive product development vision that we set forth three years ago."
 New products within Mentor Graphics' release 8.2 include the company's top-down Design Solver(TM); FlexTest(TM), FastScan(TM) and QuickFault(TM) II, the ATPG and test synthesis products; the FastTrack(TM) Library Management System (FLMS), a Falcon Framework-based application for library development and management; along with X terminal support. Design and library management product enhancements were made to the company's advanced Falcon Framework(R). Additionally, performance upgrades were added to existing leading-edge tools including significant load, runtime, debugging and modeling enhancements to QuickSim II(TM), the industry's leading simulation technology.

 OTHER SOLUTIONS EXPO ANNOUNCEMENTS
 A number of additional announcements were made at Solutions Expo today. Mentor Graphics and ANACAD Computer Systems announced a technology partnership to jointly develop leading edge analog and mixed- signal solutions. Design Solver Test was also introduced which includes Autologic Test, FlexTest, FastScan, QuickFault II, QuickGrade II and QuickPath. Mentor Graphics and High Level Design (HLD) Systems announced the completion of interfaces to HLD Systems' Design Planner 2.0 environment providing integration of Mentor Graphics' IC design tools into the Cadence Design Framework I and Design Framework II environments. The company also unveiled its next-generation IC tools for module generation, block routing and floorplanning. Mentor Graphics additionally announced a joint development effort with Digital Equipment Corp. (DEC) to fully integrate its Falcon Framework into DEC's enterprise-level product data management environment, PowerFrame. Eighteen partners were also added to the company's industry-recognized OpenDoor program.
